Dowling College Advisement System – Introduction

The Dowling College advisement system is a collection of web-based software designed to aid students in tracking their progress in all the programs in which they are enrolled.  Much like the old pen and paper worksheet, the online advisement system provides the student with a view of completed classes, assurance that the necessary requirements have been met, and guidance toward graduation.  However unlike the old system, the new online system is conveniently packaged on the internet and is synchronized with the school’s records, meaning it is always available and always up-to-date with a student’s transcript.  In addition, the online system follows the rules exactly specified by the school’s catalog, ensuring that the advisement a student receives is totally accurate.

One point students should be aware of is that any schedules or class listings supplied by the system are totally non-binding.  That is, once a session is ended by the student, all information provided by the system is not saved.  Therefore, student’s cautious about using this system out of fear of it making binding decisions shouldn’t worry.  The system only provides information to aid the student in registering, and thus they will still need to use the appropriate Dowling College facilities to register.
